Vaccines are a safe and effective way to give children immunity against a number of potentially serious diseases. Immunizations prevent common childhood diseases like tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough (pertussis), polio, measles, mumps, rubella, and bacterial meningitis (Hib vaccine).
